Clinical Negligence & Personal Injury
The Group: The Clinical Negligence & Personal Injury Group comprises over 30 members (including 7 QCs). No fewer than 9 members of the group have been selected as leaders in their field in Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500; the latter commends our 'friendly and helpful' juniors.
Clinical Negligence: 42 Bedford Row is recommended as a leading set of chambers in clinical negligence work by Chambers & Partners. Members of the team are described in Chambers and Partners 2009 as 'dedicated and very approachable'. Members of the group act in every kind of clinical negligence claim, ranging from claims of low value to those worth many millions of pounds. Members act for defendants (NHS Trusts, GPs, private hospitals etc.) and for Claimants (usually instructed by firms with clinical negligence franchises - but also see below).
Personal injury: We also handle all types of personal injury work, including coroners’ inquests, and criminal injuries compensation appeals. Very junior members undertake fast-track cases. More senior members deal regularly with cases involving injuries of the utmost severity. We act for claimants and insurers.
Funding: With the disappearance of legal aid in most personal injury claims and its considerably limited availability in clinical negligence claims, members of this group undertake a significant amount of Conditional Fee and legal insurance work.
Seminars: The group regularly organises seminars on developments in the law and practice relating to personal injury and clinical negligence work. Members of the group are always delighted to arrange talks for individual firms and we are more than happy to travel to your offices to do so. We are accredited by the Law Society to provide CPD points.
