Background
Richard joined chambers upon completion of his pupillage in Autumn 2001. Since then he has had substantial experience of working in most areas of Chambersí civil work, particularly personal injury, employment and professional negligence. He regularly appears in fast and multi track trials in the County Court, all types of hearing in the Employment Tribunal and has experience of interim and substantive hearings in the High Court.
Personal Injury ñ Richard has extensive experience of advising and appearing in road traffic litigation, tripping and slipping claims, accidents at work and claims against occupiers. He also has experience of acting in cases involving occupational illness and disease. He appears on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants and accepts instructions on a conditional fee basis.
Employment Law ñ Richard has a wide experience of advisory work and advocacy in Employment Tribunals, the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the Civil Courts. His expertise includes claims of unfair dismissal, all forms of discrimination (including disability, race, sex and sexual orientation), TUPE, deduction from wages, breach of contract, working time regulations, restrictive covenants and the protection of confidential information.
Professional Negligence ñ Richard has been involved in claims against professionals including doctors, dentists, solicitors, estate agents and accountants.
Landlord & Tenant ñ Richard has acted for landlords (both private and public) and tenants in a wide range of landlord and tenant litigation in the residential and business context, including claims for possession and breaches of repairing obligations.
