Summary Of Practice

Tom has a successful personal injury and clinical negligence practice.
Tom acts for both Claimants and Defendants and has experience of a wide variety of all types of claims. He ranges from straightforward Fast Track litigation to cases of significant value, regularly advising on claims valued in six figures.

His personal injury practice comprises all types of claim from accidents at work to industrial diseases, including mesothelioma, to Road Traffic Accidents to Occupiers’ Liability to Animals’ Act and every other manner of injury in between.

His clinical negligence practice is growing strongly. He acts in cases involving General Practitioners, Hospitals and other medical practitioners.

Recent cases include:
- Several cases of delayed diagnosis of different types of cancer;
- Negligent operative treatment;
- Failing to provide adequate post-operative care;
- Misdiagnosis of torsion of the testicle;
- Instrumentation left inside the body; and
- Hospital acquired infection cases, including MRSA and C Diff.

Tom undertakes a large proportion of his Claimant work on a Conditional Fee basis.

Settlement: Mesothaelioma: Mr S

A Claimant suffering from mesothaelioma, represented by Thomas Wood (2002) of 42 Bedford Row, settled his claim against his former employer for £175,000.  Liability was not in dispute and apportionment was not an issue given his history of 40 years with his former employer.
