Having initially joined chambers as a family specialist, Carolina is now building a mixed civil practice in a wide variety of 42BR’s areas of expertise, and has a particular interest in property, housing, employment, Court of Protection and inquest work. She is a confident and practical advocate, with a rigorously forensic approach to case drafting and preparation.
Carolina read Modern Languages at the University of Oxford and completed her law conversion at City, University of London. After graduating, Carolina worked in group litigation, specialising in medical product liability relating to women’s contraceptive devices, and in Court of Protection law, as a legal assistant to a partner in a Legal 500 firm.
Carolina is fully bilingual in English and Italian, and professionally fluent in German.
Carolina is interested in developing a practice inclusive of employment law and welcomes instructions in this area of law. She has experience drafting witness statements for major companies, acting as respondents in employment claims.
Carolina has experience acting for landlords within the private housing sector, including representation within the First-Tier Tribunal.
Carolina is interested in building a practice within Court of Protection and mental capacity law, having previously worked as a legal assistant to a partner in a Legal 500 firm. Her caseload mostly focused on representing ‘P’ through their Official Solicitor, and included challenges brought under s.21a of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, concerning the operation of the deprivation of liberty safeguards, and capacity and best interests proceedings, brought under s.15 and s.16.
Carolina has experience of pre inquest review hearings, including representing local authorities. Her previous experience within Court of Protection and family law lends itself well to approaching the sensitive nature of inquests. She is keen to develop an extensive practice within this area of law.
Carolina joined 42BR as a family specialist, and has acted across the full spectrum of family law, including public and private children, financial remedies and protective orders under the Family Law Act.
She has extensive experience in private children law, having dealt with cases involving extensive and serious allegations of domestic abuse, parental alienation, intractable contact disputes, and internal relocation. Carolina has a strong track record of securing findings, including in cases with evidential difficulties.
Carolina also has ample experience acting for parties in public children proceedings, particularly for local authorities. She has experience of cases involving non-accidental injury, designation issues, deprivation of liberty, parental neglect, and serious abuse.
