Kate Claxton qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and has specialised in the area of family law particularly cases concerning children for the last 10 years. Kate has been an accredited member of the Law Society’s Advanced Family Panel specialising in domestic abuse and child contact matters since 2013, the Law Society’s Family Panel since 2010 and Children Panel since 2011.
Kate was named as a Rising Star in Super Lawyers Magazine in 2013
Kate recently left private practice as a partner at McMillan Williams Solicitor. She was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in October 2019.
In her downtime Kate enjoys going to the gym, theatre, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Kate has recently completed the vunerable witness training.

Public Law
Kate specialises in public law children work and as a solicitor was instructed by a number of Guardians, parents and Special Guardianship carers. Kate has undertaken a number of high profile High Court cases including murder, sexual abuse and transgender cases.
Private Law
Kate also specialises in private children matters representing both Applicants and Respondents in all types of Section 8 Order cases.
Kate has a wealth of experience in domestic abuse cases having worked with a number of domestic abuse organisations in and around London for the last 7 years. Kate has previously taken part in a radio presentation on this topic and provides training to domestic abuse outreach services.
