Introduction

Katherine joined 42 Bedford Row in October 2020 after successfully completing pupillage in chambers. She has a broad common law practice and accepts instructions in all of chambers’ core areas. Before joining chambers, Katherine worked as judicial assistant to two Justices in the Court of Appeal.

Personal Injury

Katherine regularly represents both Claimants and Defendants in claims arising out of road traffic accidents, including personal injury and credit hire claims. She accepts instructions in small claims trials, stage 3 hearings, credit hire disputes, fast-track claims and case management hearings. She also accepts instructions to draft pleadings and advise on liability and quantum in personal injury matters.

Property and Housing

Katherine accepts instructions on behalf of both landlords (private and social) and tenants in a broad range of landlord and tenant actions. During pupillage, she spent three months dealing almost exclusively with property cases, including assisting with homelessness appeals, EPA 1990 prosecutions, disrepair claims and possession matters. She also advises and drafts pleadings in residential and commercial property disputes.

Family

Katherine has experience dealing with both private and public children disputes as well as family finance proceedings. She appears for parents in child arrangements, prohibited steps and specific issue applications. During pupillage, Katherine assisted in complex care proceedings involving the diplomatic immunity of parents and has experience analysing extensive medical evidence for fact-finding hearings. She accepts instructions from all parties involved in public law proceedings. Katherine also regularly appears in applications under the Family Law Act 1996 for non-molestation and occupation orders.
