Benjamin Uduje represents Hull University Teaching Hospitals in whistleblowing claim
Benjamin Uduje instructed by Capsticks, represents the Hull University Teaching Hospital (HUTH) and four named Respondents in their defence of multiple claims of whistleblowing detriments by a consultant cardiologist.
Over the course of 3 weeks, the tribunal will be considering 13 alleged protected disclosures and 28 different detriments alleged to have taken place over the course of two years. The claimant’s concerns had been investigated and reviewed on multiple occasions internally and externally. One external inquiry found that the whistleblowing complaints had at its roots a history of warring factions with the cardiology department that had been poorly managed over several years including under the claimant’s leadership and that the claimant had difficulties assimilating the views of others when they are non-concordant with his own.
The case is extremely factually and legally complex, comprising approx 3500 pages of evidence. Benjamin also cross examined 7 cardiology consultants who gave evidence for the claimant. A further 12 witnesses were called for the respondent.
The case has recieved media attention here.
