Our Animal Welfare Group

There are many areas of law which impact on the welfare of animals. Members of our specialist groups are able to offer expertise across the full range of issues which arise.
With two Queen’s Counsel and juniors at various levels of call (and practising in all Divisions of the High Court and Appellate Courts), we have the full range of forensic skills and experience to advise and represent clients, especially post Brexit and in the light of the new Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022.
All members of our group support the UK Centre for Animal Law and we have appropriate practitioners to accept instructions in all matters pertaining to animal welfare including:

  • Animal Welfare Act 2006
  • Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022
  • Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
  • Animals Act 1971
  • Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
  • Family Law
  • Professional Negligence (Veterinary and other)
  • Environmental law
  • Judicial Review
  • Cross-Jurisdictional issues (including import and export of animals)
  • Crime
