Marcia Hyde prepares A-LAW’s response to the Government’s “A Fairer End to Relationships” consultation
Marcia Hyde has prepared A-LAW’s response to the Government’s “A Fairer End to Relationships” consultation, calling for companion animals to be recognised as sentient beings, rather than simply as property, when relationships break down.
The response proposes that courts should prioritise an animal’s welfare when determining their future care following separation. It also highlights the important link between animal abuse and domestic abuse, including the use of companion animals as a means of coercive control.
Marcia has 30 years’ experience practising in family law and has a particular specialism in animal law, bringing together her expertise in both areas when preparing A-LAW’s response.
