Shelly Glaister-Young elected as Barrister Governing Bencher of the Inner Temple
42BR Barristers is pleased to congratulate Shelly Glaister-Young on her election as a Barrister Governing Bencher of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
Shelly was elected at the Bench Table on 16 July 2026, with the appointments announced by the Inner Temple on 6 August 2026. The Benchers of the Inn are responsible for managing the Inn’s affairs, and Shelly joins a distinguished group of newly elected Governing Benchers in recognition of her contribution to the legal profession and her commitment to the Inn.
Called to the Bar in 2004, Shelly is a highly regarded family practitioner specialising in public children law, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and wardship matters. Alongside her busy practice, she has dedicated significant time to supporting the work of the Inner Temple, holding a number of volunteer roles, and serving as a Pod Leader for the Bridging the Bar Academy since its inception. She also chairs 42BR's Schools Outreach Committee, reflecting her commitment to widening access to the profession and supporting aspiring barristers.
