Rice v Wicked Vision and Barton Turns Ltd v Treadwell

Nicholas Bidnell-Edwards has represented the Appellant, Barton Turns Limited, in the Supreme Court case of Wicked Vision v. Rice, and Barton Turns Ltd v. Treadwell.

In what will be a landmark decision for whistleblowing law, the Supreme Court has heard submissions to decide whether an employee can claim their dismissal was a detriment under Section 47B of the Employment Rights Act 1996.

At the hearing on 21 May 2026 the Supreme Court sat for the first time in Glasgow, Scotland at 40 John Street, City Chambers East Building.

Nicholas Bidnell-Edwards was led by Richard Leiper KC.

A judgment is expected to be released in the coming months.
