Marcus is a very experienced and established practitioner with a wide civil practice. He has dealt with a considerable number of medical negligence cases as well as personal injury claims arising out of accidents at work, motoring and marine collisions. He has extensive experience of advising at the pre-litigation stage as well as appearing on interim applications and at trial and in mediations. Marcus is very approachable and is known for providing effective and practical advice. He has a reputation for achieving excellent results and preparing pleadings, advices and documents in a timely manner.
Profile
Marcus has been involved in a significant number of high value cases of note. Marcus is regularly instructed on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants in claims alleging fraud. In addition Marcus has experience of residential landlord and tenant matters and has been involved in litigating commercial and contractual disputes.
Marcus practised offshore for a number of years and is able to use that experience when cross-jurisdictional issues arise particularly in cases of foreign registered vehicles involved in motor accidents in England and Wales.
Personal Injury Law
Marcus has dealt with a wide variety of personal injury matters arising out of road traffic accidents; Occupiers’ and Employers’ liability claims and maritime accidents. He has particular experience of dealing with catastrophic injury cases and claims involving the Motor Insurers Bureau. He is regularly instructed by both Claimants and Defendants. He is very familiar with the issues arising out of claims involving Fundamental Dishonesty and fraud and represents both Claimants and Defendants in such cases.
Marcus has recently been involved in a number of cases involving high value claims. A number of those matters were settled by negotiation and mediation prior to trial and Marcus is very familiar with that method of alternative dispute resolution.
Recent cases
- Acted for the Claimant in an accident at work which involved falling from a ride-on mower and in which the claim was pleaded in excess of £100,000 with both liability and quantum being in dispute (2024).
- Acted for the Claimant in an accident at work in an abattoir in which liability was admitted but quantum was ongoing in respect of multiple orthopaedic, dental and psychological injuries (2024).
- Acted for the Defendant in a road traffic collision which involved multiple vehicles and in which causation issues arose in respect of severe resulting injuries (2023).
Clinical Negligence
Marcus undertakes Clinical Negligence work on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants.
Recent cases
- Acted in a matter involving dental negligence and which resulted in substantial damages being awarded (2024).
- Represented the Claimant in respect of a claim for damages arising out of a cosmetic procedure which was carried out negligently (2023).
- Acting in a case involving a hip operation in which both liability and quantum were in issue and in which orthopaedic experts for both parties gave evidence at trial (2023).
