Sophie joined 42BR as a tenant in February 2026, and accepts instructions across all areas of family law. She is regularly instructed in Private Children Law matters including contact disputes, multi day fact-findings involving domestic abuse and alienation allegations, and final hearings. Sophie also frequently acts in domestic abuse non-molestation and occupation order proceedings.

Sophie is building her practice in Public Children Law, having acted for clients at multiple stages, and also in Financial Remedy proceedings, with experience in FDRs, and MPS and LSPO applications. She is eager to expand her practice in both areas.

Sophie is frequently kept on as counsel throughout cases and is often praised for her client care. She has completed the FLBA Advocacy and the Vulnerable Training, and has recently co-authored several articles on the impact of family court proceedings on victims of domestic abuse and proposed reform.

Prior to Pupillage, Sophie worked as a private family law paralegal at a leading Legal 500 firm in London, and had a previous career as a theatre producer and manager, having studied Theatre and Performance at the University of Leeds.

Family Law

Private Children Law – Sophie is frequently instructed in private children matters, often involving allegations of domestic abuse and parental alienation, and issues of substance misuse, mental health, and jurisdictional disputes. Sophie regularly acts for parents in multi-day fact-finding and final hearings, and is often kept on as counsel throughout proceedings.

Domestic Abuse (Family Law Act) – Sophie frequently accepts instructions for non-molestation and occupation order applications from without notice hearings through to contested final hearings.

Public Children Law – Sophie is building her experience in Public Law care proceedings and is keen to expand her practice.

Divorce & Financial Remedies - Sophie has experience in Financial Remedy proceedings including First Appointments, FDRs, and MPS and LSPO applications, and is keen to expand her practice.

Notable Cases

Re M [2024 – 2025] - represented the mother in a fact-finding hearing (during pupillage) involving significant allegations of domestic abuse, resulting in all 17 of the client’s live allegations being found, and concluding with final orders for indirect contact only and an indefinite non-molestation order against the father.

Re L & Ors [2025] – represented the father in a contested final hearing on the mother’s application to stop contact, successfully achieving increased, regular spends time arrangements including overnights, and an equal division of the school holidays including holidays abroad.

Re J [2025 - 2026] – represented the mother throughout proceedings on the application of a party without parental responsibility and with overlapping criminal proceedings, resulting in no final contact orders and a s91(14) order to filter future applications.

H v W & Ors [2025 - 2026] – represented the respondent/wife in concurrent Family Law Act and Financial Remedy proceedings, involving disputes relating to ownership and matrimonial versus non-matrimonial assets and liabilities. 4 out of 5 of the client’s allegations were found as proven, one partially proven, the applicant/husband’s 4 allegations dismissed as not proven, a final non-molestation order was granted for the client, as well as a final occupation order until final sale of the home.

Re Z & Ors [2026] – acted for the father in care proceedings involving concerns of parental substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse and neglect.

Civil Law

Sophie occasionally accepts instructions to act on behalf of Claimants and Defendants in claims arising from road traffic accidents including liability and quantum disputes and credit hire claims.
