Andrew is a highly skilled advocate specialising in Financial Remedy Cases, Private Law children act matters, financial disputes between cohabitees and claims under the inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. Andrew is extremely focused on getting the best outcome for all his clients. He is meticulously prepared and has a keen eye for detail to ensure no stone is left unturned. His cross- examination is direct and efficacious.

Having been called to the bar over 40 years ago Andrew is highly regarded by his contemporaries and members of the judiciary. He has been instructed in a number of complicated and lengthy disputes involving complexities in respect of businesses, trusts, foreign assets, pensions and third party interveners. His experience allows him to give commercial, practical and focused advice to clients whilst remaining sensitive and empathetic to their needs.

Andrew is a keen networker and has presented a number of papers at national and international conferences, and has published several articles during his career. He is also a book reviewer for Family Law and a conference reviewer for International Family Law. He has been involved in training events for local solicitors and for four years was an advocacy trainer for Resolution.

Arbitration

Andrew is a qualified Arbitrator dealing with financial remedy cases (including TOLATA cases) as well as cases under the Family Arbitration Children Scheme. Arbitration is an alternative way of resolving disputes without protracted court proceedings, and in many cases can provide a more cost effective and speedy outcome for families in respect of child arrangements and financial claims particularly given the current delays that many experience with the courts. Andrew is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators. He also offers a private financial dispute resolution (FDR) service.

  • Obtaining the whole of a former matrimonial home for the husband’s parents;
  • Obtaining a special guardianship order for the maternal great-grandparents of a young child;
  • Recovering a loan in excess of £200,000 for a husband’s mother;
  • Successively representing a parent on an application to permanently remove a child to a non EU, European country
