Angela undertakes both claimant and defendant work in all areas of her practice. She accepts instructions for court hearings at all stages of litigation, as well as for the drafting of pleadings, applications and witness statements.

She is particularly interested in cases that involve an overlap between different areas of her practice, including Housing and Personal Injury and Social Care and Human Rights as well as issues raised under the Equality Act 2010. Particular examples include:

  • Drafting of local authority Protocol documentation regarding young people who are homeless
  • Advising Safeguarding Children Board prior to the publication of the Safeguarding Review and during Pre-Inquest Review hearings
  • Representing local authority in the Court of Protection where a vulnerable adult was in temporary accommodation and special adaptations to a property for him were required
  • Representing and advising local authority where a family brought a claim for damages under the Human Rights Act for compensation where a child had been subject to child protection investigation

Housing & Homelessness

Angela deals with all areas of social housing.  She represents local authorities and housing associations in complicated and protracted claims for possession involving issues of anti-social behaviour, sub-letting and succession.  She regularly drafts and makes applications for injunctive relief for anti-social behaviour issues and breaches of tenancy agreement.  Angela’s work has involved cases where tenants may be vulnerable and may have health issues that need to be taken into consideration.

Private Landlord, Leasehold Disputes and Mortgages

When Angela completed her pupillage at chambers in Manchester she focussed on Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence work and maintains a keen interest in this area.

She regularly represents local authorities and employers defending personal injury claims, and cases including claims for damages under the Human Rights Act.

When instructed by claimants, she has represented individuals who have suffered injury during childbirth and clients who have brought claims of historic abuse when they were in church youth groups.

Personal Injury/ Clinical Negligence

When Angela completed her pupillage at chambers in Manchester she focussed on Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence work and maintains a keen interest in this area.

She regularly represents local authorities and employers defending personal injury claims, and cases including claims for damages under the Human Rights Act.

Inquests

Angela represents local authorities, hospitals and security firms as Interested Persons at an Inquest.  She has also represented the families of the bereaved and helps them to probe for answers at this specialised form of inquiry.

Court of Protection

Angela’s Court of Protection practice has included representing local authorities and housing associations who may have vulnerable persons in housing.  She has assisted in complex situations where specialised resources are required, and where there may be a conflict between family members’ wishes and the local authority or housing association.
