Charmaine specialises in family law and public inquiries. She is sought after for her eye for detail, fluent advocacy and approachable manner. In addition to her own cases, she is frequently led by senior juniors and KCs, particularly in matters concerning suspected non-accidental injury.
Alongside her practice, Charmaine is active in the wider legal community and she is particularly passionate about issues such as access to justice and equality and diversity at the Bar. She currently sits on Advocate’s Young Bar Executive Committee and Chambers’ Equality & Diversity Committee.
Charmaine maintains a commitment to pro bono work through organisations such as Advocate and Not Beyond Redemption. In 2021, Charmaine was nominated for Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year at the Bar Pro Bono Awards.
Charmaine is currently instructed as junior counsel to the Undercover Policing Inquiry, assisting the Inquiry Chair, Sir John Mitting, in this high-profile inquiry into undercover policing across England and Wales since 1968.
Between May to September 2022, Charmaine worked as junior counsel to the Scottish Infected and Affected Core Participants in the Infected Blood Inquiry, which is frequently referred to as the UK’s largest ever public inquiry.
