Introduction

Samuel was called to the bar in 2016 and built his expansive practice at Becket Chambers before joining 42 Bedford Row in early 2022. He is a popular junior with a busy practice focused on commercial, property, matrimonial finance and private child disputes. He is known for his ability to clearly explain complex legal issues to clients and for his robust approach in court.

He has a busy paperwork practice and is regularly instructed to advise on civil and family matters or to draft pleadings.

He is able to provide advice at all stages of a case, from pre-action through to trial, the assessment of costs and enforcement.

Family Law

Financial Remedies

Samuel’s practice covers all types of financial remedy disputes (including claims made under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and Schedule 1 claims under the Children Act). He is regularly approached to advise in high value cases and disputes that involve complex issues of law. He is also regularly instructed in proceedings that involve international issues. 

Recent Cases

Q v Q [2021] EWHC 1757 (Fam): Samuel represented the Respondent in a multi-faceted case (with a 30-year litigation background) in the High Court including an application for a freezing injunction against a third party, a Hadkinson order and various claims in respect of spousal maintenance. Samuel obtained two totally without merit certifications. 

Private Children Law

Samuel specialises in all types of private child proceedings. He is regularly instructed in complex cases involving significant allegations of domestic abuse, expert issues, or parental alienation.

Recent Cases

In the matter of a child ““J”” (a Minor) [2023] EWFC 35 - Samuel represented the father in a parental alienation case. 

Re J [2022] EWFC 92 - Samuel obtained an interim-change of residence in a case involving disputed allegations of parental alienation. The judgment of the case can be found here.
