Sam’s employment practice encompasses the full range of employment law. He is typically involved in cases involving discrimination, whistleblowing or TUPE and frequently appears against leading counsel. Sam also has experience of employment litigation in the civil courts (e.g. restrictive covenants and contractual redundancy). He has appeared in a number of appeals at the EAT and beyond.

• Rashad v. CC of Cleveland Police [2026] EAT 1 – Representing successful Respondent at appeal concerning extension of time limits, including whether it is ever permissible to have regard to reputational damage to witnesses when deciding if to extend time under ‘just and equitable’ provision.
• PQ v. Environment Agency 1802467&2502512/2023 - Representing EA at PH considering principles of vicarious/agency liability for discrimination in context of workplace dispute surrounding gender critical beliefs.
• H v. Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis 2301131/2024 – Representing MPC in defence of claim focused on the reasonableness of permanent working from home for police officer.
